Mining Engineers

Permanent position in the Mining sector in Congo, the Democratic Republic of, Mauritania, Zambia.

Our client is a growing mining and metals company whose principal activities include mineral exploration, development and mining in Africa. The Company produces copper and gold and is listed on the Toronto and London Stock Exchanges.

They envisage the need to employ Mining Engineers at both junior and senior level at operations either in Zambia, Mauritania or the DRC.

Description:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Mining Engineer will be responsible for the day to day mining operations. Working with limited supervision the successful incumbent will be required to:
·         Control and manage mining contractors or the mining discipline in terms of safety, health, environmental and quality issues
·         Formulate practical and achievable short, medium and long term plans
·         Define, direct and manage various projects as required
·         Conduct studies and prepare reports as required
·         Review and revise pit and dump designs as required
·         Train and develop subordinates

This position will require:
·         Experience in mine planning
·         Practical experience in drill and blast and load and haul operations
·         Well entrenched safety and quality principles
·         A related degree or diploma
·         Opencast mining experience, preferably in base metals, copper experience is a distinct advantage.
·         Good working knowledge of Surpac and Minesched software
