Geotechnical Engineer

Our client is global diversified mining group with its business maintaining a meaningful position in seven major international commodity markets. The group currently has operations and projects spanning 18 countries.
They are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer their operation.
About the Role:
· Provide site geotechnical services as required by mining and civil operations including, but not restricted to; the routine collection and analysis of geotechnical data to continuously update Geotechnical databases and block model.
· The provision of sound geotechnical advice concerning long and short term slope stability.
· Identifying problem areas in advance of mining
· Geotechnical Database Management – Updating, management and development of mine site geotechnical Vulcan, Access and Excel databases and spreadsheets as required.
· Special Projects – From time to time undertake special projects or tasks as assigned by the Senior Geologist, which may include filling in Mine Geologists roles as and when required
Requirements:
· Bachelor of Science majoring in Mining Engineering/Geotechnical Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
· Experience in underground and/or open cut mining
· VULCAN software, MS Access and Excel. Excellent communication skills Ability to complete tasks within given time constraints.
· Demonstrated knowledge of slope stability and support selection in open pit metalliferous mines.
· Familiarity with spreadsheets and word processing
· Knowledge of computer based 3D stress modelling and mine designs systems desirable, especially VULCAN
