[Company] is a leading provider of high performance scientific instruments and solutions for molecular and materials research, as well as for industrial and applied analysis.  The company primarily serves pharmaceutical, diagnostics and biotech customers, as well as academic institutions, medical schools and government entities.

This Manager will provide business application support for the company’s automated financial management systems and related applications; perform financial systems project management work; and other related work as required.  The position will be heavily involved in the implementation, roll-out and enhancement of SAPERP 6.04 modules, which include core financial applications such as: FICO; AP; AR; Fixed Assets; Project Accounting; and COPA and BPC.  This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Finance and Information Technology (IT) departments on financial management systems by analyzing the business’ operational, data availability and reporting requirements.  Ensure that new information technology evaluations, specifications and designs, developments and implementations provide solutions to meet the business needs of the users within the organization
  • Take ownership of troubleshooting user issues as they arise, maintaining effective communication with both functional users and development teams while working closely with all parties to resolve problems, answer questions, and provide solutions ensuring resolution as required
  • Post-implementation, oversee functional support of all financial modules
  • Working with Finance leadership, facilitate the prioritization of application enhancements to ensure that solution delivery is consistent with management’s intentions
  • Provide training and documentation within the user community in an effort to build understanding of system functionality through which they may meet their business requirements
  • Develop test procedures to ensure existing system software and modifications meet user specifications and maintain the integrity of financial application data and global business practices
  • Study and report on unused functions of the financial management software; participate on the development and testing of new or modified report formats, customization of programs to manipulate data or changes to file structure; and create or update functional specifications for new or modified reports and applications
  • Oversee project management activities for ongoing projects in assigned areas of responsibility.  Manage project resources, funds, and schedules to ensure responsiveness to business needs
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate a cross-functional staff of business analysts and technical resources
  • Play a key role in the ongoing implementation and roll-out of BPC and the ongoing support, maintenance and enhancement of SAP
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Competencies/Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have started his/her career in finance/accounting, and transitioned to working regularly with SAP implementations and integrations
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts, financial consolidations and internal controls
  • Subject matter expert in SAP ERP 6.04 and related components (SAP FI module functional & technical knowledge).  Strong user and technical experience in BW tools preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business; a related advanced degree or additional information systems accreditation is desirable
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience with financial system and master data administration; SAP implementation and operational experience highly preferred
  • Customer service experience; providing end-user support by resolving technical problems
  • Experience working in a dynamic multi-national environment
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Experience with process design and re-engineering is a plus
  • Strong user and technical experience in BPC preferred
  • The ability to take business requirements and translate them into to system configuration
  • Excellent project management and time management skills: being highly organized; detail oriented with exceptional prioritization and follow-up skills and a sense of urgency.  Proficiency with MS Project desirable
