Job Description

  • The Manager I – Construction plans, directs and coordinates construction projects, ranging from routine and moderately complex projects to large, multiple-contract projects. Scope of human resources management includes both the construction representative and construction coordinator job families.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates construction projects, ranging from routine and moderately complex projects to large, multiple-contract projects. Scope of human resources management includes both the construction representative and construction coordinator job families.
  • Coordinates and controls all construction management activities, including CPM, scheduling and claims administration.
  • Provides internal consultation to construction representatives in project offices and acts as a technical resource to other function groups within the division.  Interprets plans and specifications for clients, contractors and the firm's field personnel.
  • Develops new opportunities for business through proposal preparation and general contact with current and potential clients.  Assists in administration and operation of the construction services group, as required.
  • Reviews government regulations in order to provide consultation services that reflect an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of legal requirements.
  • Provides expert witness service in claims administration cases.  Actively participates as a member of the Technical Review Committee.  Supervises and coordinates all shop drawing activities.
  • Travel: Job requires site visits (up to 10%-20% of time allocation).
  • Environmental Factors: Job requires site visits (up to 10%-20% of time allocation) in which factors sited for Construction Representatives may apply (i.e., continuous climbing, exposure to loud noise, seasonal weather and driving.) Job involves daily stress due to multiple and immediate demands of contractors, operating under large financial constraints, e.g., equipment and personnel downtime.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 10 Years of experience in construction
  • or
  • Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and 15 years of construction experience
  • or
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) and 15 years of experience of construction experience
  • or
  • 22 years of construction experience in lieu of degree. PE desired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Job requires site visits (up to 10%-20% of time allocation) in which you may face environmental factors such as continuous climbing, exposure to loud noise, seasonal weather, and driving.
