- Responsibilities include ensuring project planning considers health safety and environmental aspects and incorporates corporate safety procedures health programs and environmental standards in the work. Mine Designing and planning evaluating alternative concepts and designs and select most appropriate for further development. Conduct mine planning and scheduling pit or mine optimization phase development sequences road access mining schedules waste dump design and scheduling water management design equipment selection and project cost estimation. Requirements for the successful candidate include a B.Sc. Mining Engineering. A P. Eng. PE or on track towards P. Eng. PE. 3 or more years of experience in mine design and engineering with a demonstrated experience in feasibility study work ideally coupled with experience in an operating mine environment. Ability to handle a large and varied workload. Excellent interpersonal verbal written and problem solving communication skills. Experience with long range planning for new mines or mine production and operations. Proficiency with mine planning software and related information systems. Open pit and or underground coal mining experience is an asset. Hands on knowledge of mine planning software and techniques.
