  • Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include maintaining high level of Health and Safety standards and ensuring adherence to [Company] with workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification risk assessment and risk control. Providing leadership to all load and haul activities while ensuring the work is completed in a safe efficient and timely manner. Controlling all allocated labor to ensure maximum availability of human resources by maintaining leave register managing absenteeism and taking corrective action where applicable. Implementing actions to optimize mining process performance and attain efficiency targets in the areas of labor productivity equipment availability and utilization and material consumption. Coordinating the allocation of machinery to ensure efficient and effective achievement of set pit operation services and production objectives. Ensuring achievement of production targets by maintaining operational standards in loading hauling and dumping zones. Establishing good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of the operation including working with the technical services team to support the development of optimum mining short term plans. Maintaining environmental awareness amongst workforce by holding meetings and involving the environmental department in related subjects. The successful incumbent will demonstrate to be a good ambassador for the company with proven ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally. You hold a valid BC Shift Boss Certificate and bring a minimum of five years? experience in an open pit mining environment. With tact, good judgment and discretion, you liaise with all members of the mine operations on mine operations standards, policies, procedures and processes as well as mine equipment safety standards. You hold a proven ability to take full responsibility with minimum supervision for safety, production and quality of load and haul operations. Your strong problem solving skills, attention to details and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines will assist in your ability to interpret mine plans and effectively communicate to load and haul work group. Moreover, your understanding of short and long term planning objectives will help you to prepare work schedules and performance reports.
