Mine Geologist

An opportunity currently exists for a Mine Geologist to join our Geology team at our Christmas Creek Operation.This position is responsible for the direct input of geological data into all areas of mining activities including pit and production work, data recording, interpretation and modelling.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Provide leadership and be a role model for safety behaviours
  • Ensure compliance to the FMG standards and statutory obligations
  • Provide input to planning/operations teams to maximise margin through focus on output and ore recovery over the life of mine
  • Ensure that all plans and instructions are provided to the respective stakeholders within the agreed time frames
  • Ensure that material movement records and grades on stockpiles are accurate
  • Ensure all inputs from upstream and external suppliers are delivered
  • Participate in reconciliation processes for identification of improvement areas
  • Support Senior Mine Geologist in meeting company objectives

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology
  • Experience gained as an exploration, resource definition or mine geologist
  • Working experience with 3D modelling software (preferably Vulcan & Leapfrog)
  • Demonstrated capability in delivering system and process improvements
  • Experience/proficiency in coding / scripting languages (SQL, Perl, etc.) and the ability to develop dashboards from stored data using Tableau highly regarded
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current C class driver's licence
