MINERAL PROCESSING STUDENT

The Red Chris mine has an opportunity within the Metallurgy Department for a Mineral Processing Student. This position is for work at the remote Red Chris mine located 80 km south of Dease Lake, BC, in Tahltan traditional territory. The successful applicant will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift rotation. We offer a number of designated flight marshalling points within BC. Reporting to the Plant Metallurgist, the successful candidate will be responsible for daily sampling, supporting mill operations and completing metallurgical testing both at plant and lab scale. They will support the metallurgists in optimizing plant performance and troubleshooting any plant issues. They will provide technical support to operations to ensure plant KPI’s are met and coordinate with mine geology on ore quality and plant maintenance in regards to issues affecting metallurgy. Preference will be given to students with previous work terms completed and available for 8-12 months’ work terms.

RESPONSIBILITIES  Perform test work and lab work to optimize and troubleshoot operational issues

 Oversee the quality, inventory and usage of grinding media and mill reagents

 Provide technical support to operations as directed by metallurgists

 Help the metallurgists on daily metallurgical accounting and mill operations reporting

 Calibrate analysis equipment (OSA and PSI) and other analytical and process equipment

 Perform equipment inspections (SAG, BM, cyclones, flotation cells and others) during shutdown and report issues to metallurgy, operations and maintenance

 Help ensure compliance with all safety, environment, quality, schedule, cost and security requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE  Actively pursuing a four year or advanced Degree in metallurgical or mineral processing

engineering

 Previous work terms with exposures in crushing, grinding, (SAG, BM, Pebble Crusher circuit), flotation, dewatering and metallurgical lab work is preferred

 Excellent computer skills in Microsoft office applications

 Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgement capability

 Results oriented with the ability to multi task, and adhere to deadlines

 Good interpersonal skills and excellent safety record

 Valid driver’s license

 Must be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirements

 A team player that works well with others

 Strong oral and written communication skills
