  • Responsible for the overall state of production and operations. Directs all daily operations of the processing of sand products. Ensures that production is aligned with the organization’s overall strategy. Develops and manages Operations budget. Manages the formulation of strategies to ensure that manpower hours are in line with production run rates; overtime is minimized and manpower utilization is maximized. Oversees the identification of workplace hazards through workplace inspections, risk assessment and ongoing job safety analysis when appropriate. Manages the development and execution of appropriate training programs and measurement of subsequent ROI. Serves as mentor and coach to operations management team and drives development of team members ensuring job capabilities, competencies and program/policy application are best-of-breed. Must be familiar with both day-to-day and strategic direction of Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Assume full responsibility plant production: throughput, gradations, manpower and recovery
  • Understand environmental permitting, rules, and regulation – ensure [Company] compliance
  • Champion a safety first mentality – ensure direct reports know how to work safely and effectively
  • Formulate conceptual budgets for capital projects – justify financially – implement if approved
  • Understand current plant status from the primary feed hopper to truck load out at all times – Be able to articulate current status to upper management at any time
  • Improve plant availability and uptime through proactive measures and planned maintenance
  • Ensure that all plant employees receive a weekly crew meeting covering company goals, safety, production, and manpower - lead this meeting if necessary
  • Foster an environment where continuous process improvement initiatives are promoted
  • Implement process and safety standards and procedures
  • Coordinate and manage crew schedules – ensure that all crews are filled with competent labor
  • Ensure team members are skilled in the expected tasks to be performed; intervene accordingly
  • Assist with training and development of team members
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist operators in solving work problems
  • Monitor all overtime – be accountable for tons/manhours
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and deal with changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Complete special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining Egineering, General Management or related field
  • Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree desired
  • 5+ years of hands-on maintenance, manufacturing, industrial or similar plant experience desired
  • 5+ years of silica sand production experience (4.5mm tons-per-year) desired
  • 3+ years of supervisory and leadership experience
  • Lean 6-Sigma training desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
