[Company] Limited is an Australian based ASX listed gold producer and explorer. St Barbara's assets include one of Australia's deepest underground mines at its Leonora Operations in Western Australia and an open pit gold mining operation on Simberi Island in Papua New Guinea.

[Company] Limited are currently seeking a Graduate Metallurgist to join the team within our Processing department at Leonora Operations.

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the successful incumbent will be given the opportunity to learn from a number of departments on site to develop a well-rounded metallurgical capability. Over the course of the graduate program the incumbent will develop the skills required to assist the processing department in safely achieving maximum gold recovery.

Key accountabilities of this role include:
  • Contributing to the health and safety of all personnel in the Processing Department and who work in the Gwalia mine.
  • Ensuring systems and procedures within the processing department are adhered to and followed on an ongoing basis.
  • Contributing to ensuring that the Processing Department delivers to plan in respect of production, recovery and cost per tonne.
  • Liaison with plant metallurgists, mining engineers and mine geologists in order to meet production targets.
  • Assist with ensuring that the Processing Department meets its environmental, community and statutory obligations.
  • Contributing to timely and accurate reporting within the Processing Department.
  • Managing the best use of your own time and other resources to achieve the required outcomes.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate actions to develop in current role and for future roles.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

The successful candidate will have:

Essential
  • Behaviour consistent with [Company]'s Values
  • Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes
  • Current unencumbered West Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence
  • A degree qualification in a metallurgy or chemical engineering discipline
  • A desire to learn the metallurgy discipline in a practical setting
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
  • Commercial acumen relevant to the role

Desirable
  • Relevant resources industry work experience
  • Previous experience with software such as MS Office Suite
  • Senior First Aid

This role is offered on a 8 day on / 6 day off roster FIFO from Perth, DIDO from Kalgoorlie or Residential Leonora.
