ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide engineering expertise to maintain and improve throughput, uptime, quality, and cost, to help plant achieve best practice in all areas.

Identify and evaluate productivity and cost improvements for [Company]operations and work with the [Company] team to implement projects that result in improved process yield, higher throughput, improved operating efficiencies, recognizable cost savings, and best practices.

Execute assigned capital projects through management of all components of the project from scope development through construction, commissioning, training and documentation. Help when needed to develop capital budget and forecast. Ensure productivity projects are budgeted, developed and executed as planned.

Track and monitor key productivity metrics to assure plant operates per design conditions, meets goals and to help identify opportunities.

Provide services and support to ensure that [Company] assets are operated and maintained in an optimal and cost efficient manner to meet productivity goals and reduce cost of goods sold.

Work throughout [Company]'s manufacturing and site facilities, with Production, Quality and Maintenance employees, as well as provide support to Sales, Marketing, Technology/R&D.

Be the primary owner of process improvements and productivity. Lead reviews and analysis of key metrics related to Cost Control & Productivity. Lead plant in formulation of new opportunities for process improvements and productivity. Provide process troubleshooting to reduce downtime, address quality issues, and relieve bottlenecks.

Serve as primary contact for outside resources related to productivity and best practices. Continually monitor plant performance to internal and external benchmarks and drive actions to improve.

Identify and respond to opportunities to improve safety, environmental compliance, throughput, quality, costs, housekeeping, and employee commitment. Assist in prioritization of improvement needs, develop and implement improvements.

Perform other duties as needed, such as leading or participating in Six Sigma projects, budgeting, HAZOPS, large capital project teams, 5S, etc.

Develop an in-depth knowledge of plant processes and systems. Keep up to date with new and improved process methodologies and technologies. Work with available resources (financial and human) to develop improvements to our manufacturing process.

Maintaining focus on execution of key priorities within a broad range of demands and responsibilities. Drive improvements through direct and indirect management of projects and engagement with operations.

Be able and willing to work in a production environment where heat, cold, dust and discomfort are common.

Other duties may be assigned and employee may be temporarily assigned to other departments and/or duties. Employees may not be trained on all tasks at time of hire, but on an “as needed” basis.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPENTENCIES

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a manufacturing culture focused on safety, reliability, process improvement and project delivery. Ideally this experience will include industrial minerals processing or continuous process manufacturing where dry powders were processed and handled.

Experience with process modeling, instrumentation systems/programs. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years of process experience in an engineering and/or leadership capacity.
