  • Our product line ranges from the smallest compact construction size to the largest mining size and includes hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, crawler dozers, off-highway trucks, motor graders, and tractor loaders.

Position Purpose:

  • Investigate potential suppliers and recommend those most desirable. Interview supplier representatives regarding specifications, costs, inspection, and similar problems relating to parts and equipment. Analyze technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and availability of parts and equipment. Review the quality level and standards of suppliers to verify that they meet [Company] standards. The applicant must have excellent communication skills as well as outstanding negotiation skills. The use of MS Excel is a requirement as is the need to be an all-round computer literate. The delivery and execution of the procedures expected must meet the standards set by[Company] . Having an efficient way of working by keeping the expenditure in line with returns is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Reduction goal is to develop and implement cost reduction strategies established by top management and to meet the short term and long term reduction.
  • Develop supplier base to expand business, improve financials, reduce in-house / total costs, improve quality/5S, and on-time deliveries. Provide direction and support in order to foster a mentoring relationship to suppliers and adapt tactics based on maturity and track record of the supplier.
  • To implement Design Change & Model implementation. To process ECN / ERL's according to [Company] standards in accordance to QCD's principals by tracking weekly.
  • Set up and maintain SAP settings promptly and accurately including Info Records, Source List, and MRP related Material Master settings
  • Create trial part purchase orders and track to ensure timely delivery. Follow up with suppliers on quality issues and or delivery issues on trial parts and address as needed.
  • Develop and implement inventory reduction projects for supplier base to meet top management's inventory reduction and months on hand (MOH) target levels

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or Engineering or related field and 3 years purchasing or planning experience - OR 2 years college and 7 years purchasing or planning experience - OR 11 years purchasing or planning experience.
  • Computer skills - SAP, Excel , Word, Access
  • Cost Analysis - WCT, Theoretical cost calculations (should be cost)
  • Knowledge of MRP process
  • Knowledge of Warehouse/Inventory Management
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Travel of approximately 10% necessary.
