  • We have an immediate opening for a Product Manager within our North American Smart Construction & intelligent Machine Control marketing team.
  • The position is with [Company], a leading global manufacturer of off-highway equipment and technology, at their headquarters in Rolling Meadows IL (suburb of Chicago). The primary responsibilities for the position are twofold: the management of [Company]  construction equipment line of machinery with factory integrated GPS technology and the development of complimenting off-machine jobsite enhancing technologies.
  • Expect substantial domestic travel (upwards of 30%) for collaboration with end use customers, distribution, key technology partners, and other [Company] personnel. This position reports to the Sr. Product Manager, Smart Construction & intelligent Machine Control.

Duties include:

  • Perform analysis of market needs/trends and present this information in a well-supported manner to drive development of future product offerings. This includes the generation of sales & profit plans, feature development roadmaps, and identifying new market opportunities of value.
  • Drive continued development of the business model for core products and related jobsite enhancing technologies. This includes generating a deep understanding of the construction industry, jobsite operations, and customers’ pain points.
  • Collect voice of customer regarding product/service/support by directly visiting customer job sites and working with regional sales staff/distribution. Responsible for coordinating surveys, creating questionnaires, and hosting customer interviews to acquire this data.
  • Lead machine & off-machine technology field-follow performance validation efforts relating to new product introduction/improvement. This includes defining scope, establishing schedule, traveling to the field, collecting data, and presenting analyzed results.
  • Promote to customers the most effective methods of adoption/use of machines & associated technologies via application studies, jobsite training, seminar presentations, and marketing material generation (print, video, web).
  • Support new product introduction efforts by creating or coordinating release of price lists, spec sheets, critical parts lists, manuals, training programs, etc.
  • Develop/maintain competency in the actual operation of off-highway machinery, associated off-machine technologies (drone/UAV/UAS, GPS base/rover), and targeted software applications.
  • Bring energy/ambition/innovation to the team to aggressively pursue goals, enacting real change within the [Company] organization and at the customer job site. Creatively working with other teams/departments to overcome obstacles and maximize limited resources.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering is highly preferred, and/or an extensive equivalent knowledge of construction applications, equipment, and technology (including Topcon, Trimble, Leica 3D machine control technology).
  • Strong ability to analyze complex situations, determine root cause, identify actions, and lead resolution/implementation. Must have the mechanical aptitude to look at drawings, schematics, etc.
  • Strong work ethic, highly organized, and effective at time management. Disciplined in following "Plan Do Check Act" PDCA methodology and carrying activities to conclusion. Proactive in providing solutions, presenting opportunities to management.
  • Previous heavy equipment marketing experience at an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or OEM distributor is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of construction and mining methods, key success factors, techniques and trends in the industry.
  • Strong leaderships skills supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate to all interactive parties. Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and motivate people.
  • Must have active listening skills to understand what the customers want, then building the plan and seeing it come to fruition. Able to listen to, digest, and carry forward management vision in his/her daily work.
  • Must be adaptable to a fast-paced, challenging work environment that requires innovative solutions.
  • Must have excellent presentation skills to provide training, give proposals to large groups.
  • Strong PC proficiency, specifically in creating MS PowerPoint presentations to communicate vision and strategy to management and Excel for data analysis and documentation.
