  • Responsible for engaging in air permitting activities from an environmental science perspective. Perform air permitting related activities, including preparing construction permit applications for both minor and major sources (PSD and nonattainment New Source Review), operation permit applications for both non-Title V and Title V sources (initial, revision, and renewal), and preparation of associated technical reports. Perform air permit compliance responsibilities, including preparation of Annual Operating Reports, Excess Emissions Reports, Quarterly and Semi-Annual Monitoring Reports, Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Reports, and performing facility audits. Preparation of air pollutant emissions inventories following Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommendations and procedures. Preparation of emissions inventories including criteria air pollutants, hazardous and toxic air pollutants, and greenhouse gases from stationary and mobile sources. Perform air dispersion modeling analysis using EPA-recommended air dispersion models like AERMOD and CALPUFF to predict maximum ground-level concentrations of criteria air pollutants (pollutants with National Ambient Air Quality Standards) from industrial sources. Prepare air dispersion modeling report in support of major source PSD air construction permit applications. Perform air toxics analysis. Perform noise impact assessments, including source measurements, noise modeling using CADNA, and report preparation. Perform vibration impact assessment, including conducting monitoring and assessment of vibration impacts by comparing values with standards. Design and implement ambient air and noise monitoring programs. Assist with international Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in emissions generating processes as they relate to complex mining projects.

4 years of stated experience must include:

  • Air permitting including construction, operation, renewal and revision;
  • Air permit compliance including period reports and facility audits;
  • Interpreting regulatory statutes for air pollution rules applicability analysis;
  • Performing air quality assessments using air dispersions modeling utilizing AERMOD, CALPUFF or similar;
  • Performing air quality monitoring including the preparing a monitoring plan and monitoring stations;
  • Preparing noise impact assessment using noise modeling utilizing CADNA or similar;
  • *Performing noise monitoring including preparing a monitoring plan and field measurements;
  • Performing vibration monitoring including preparing a monitoring plan and field measurements; and
  • Providing air quality-related input for Environmental Impact Assessments.
