  • Our product line ranges from the smallest compact construction size to the largest mining size and includes hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, crawler dozers, off-highway trucks, motor graders, skid steer loaders, tractor loaders and backhoe loaders.

Position Purpose:

  • Provides for worldwide sourcing, pricing, and on time delivery of all raw materials (steel plate, tubing, bar stock, etc.), castings, forgings, fabrications, machined parts, gears, and subcontract operations on proprietary designed fabrications and machined components required to support production at [Company] Peoria. These activities must support the division’s mission of meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations related to quality, cost, and delivery. Develops, coordinates and implements procedures and electronic systems supporting and improving purchasing and materials management activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, training, motivation, and supervision to workgroup in order to meet or exceed quality, cost, and delivery objectives as well as maintaining inventory level objectives.
  • Develop, enhance, test, and expand electronic systems that support the purchasing function. (Baan enhancements, E-Commerce, Defect Tracking Systems, supplier performance, etc.)
  • Insure supply orders are placed and expedited in a timely manner to provide on time delivery while maintaining inventory level objectives.
  • Ensure that Baan system (and related applications) is used (and properly maintained) to fullest extent possible in support of purchasing and company-wide ERP objectives.
  • Monitor and participate in the selection and development of reliable, cost effective, quality suppliers for assigned commodities.
  • Monitor and participate in pricing and delivery agreements with suppliers of assigned commodities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Supplier Performance measurements related to quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programs for continuous improvement in quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Recover scrap and rework expenses, caused by non-conforming materials, from suppliers.
  • Reconcile accounts payable discrepancies (due to pricing, freight, deliveries, or other factors) to facilitate payments (or debits) to suppliers.
  • Provide internal and external training related to electronic purchasing systems (i.e. e-commerce).

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management, Industrial Engineering, and/or Eight or more years of experience in Production and Inventory Control, Materials Management, Purchasing, in the metal working industry related to castings, forgings, fabrications, machined parts, gears, etc.
  • Knowledge of material requirements planning systems and related computer based inventory management systems.
  • Basic understanding of technology involved in producing assigned commodities (forgings, castings, fabrications, and machined components).
  • Understand and apply PC and related software applications to meeting department and company objectives.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic cost accounting principles. Basic understanding of value engineering as related to cost reduction activities. Effective communicator – written and verbal. Effective negotiator. Effective leader and motivator.
