Job Description

[Company] is a competitive power generation business, including mining, wholesale marketing and trading, and development operations.
  • In this highly dynamic role, the Summer Intern will work alongside with [Company] Treasury Risk & Insurance team responsible for evaluating the company’s risk exposures; the placement, renewal and administration of company-wide insurance policies; developing and implementing strategies to reduce the company’s overall cost of risk; and management of relationships with insurance underwriters and brokers.
  • The Summer Intern will gain exposure to [Company] business and operations, the insurance brokerage and underwriting community, and develop important decision making, problem solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Treasury Risk & Insurance team with the following duties:

  • Renewal of Excess Liability program with US and Bermuda insurers
  • Preparation of Directors & Officers Liability insurance documents for program renewal
  • Compilation of other executive lines insurance applications and submissions
  • Attend underwriter, broker, and local Risk and Insurance Management Society meetings
  • Review of contracts and certificates of insurance to confirm compliance with [Company] standard terms and conditions
  • Preparation of long-range insurance premiums budget by line of coverage
  • Other risk management, finance, and Treasury duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience with MS Office Word, Power Point and Excel
  • Detail oriented
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Must have a keen sense of curiosity and interest in learning about risk management and insurance
  • Either Graduate or Undergraduate student with expected graduation date between December 2017 and December 2018
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in business studies – preferably insurance-related or finance
  • Completed majority course requirements for a degree in Risk Management, Insurance or Finance
  • Internship period of 8 to 10 weeks
