Located at our office in South Calgary, and reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, this position requires cross-department and cross-business unit interaction as well as direct and indirect leadership . Key Tasks:
  • Oversight of Fixed Asset disclosure and reporting
  • Lead the consolidation of Fixed Assets for 2 ERPs
  • Lead a team of 2 Fixed Asset Accountants
  • Review, oversight and support in the preparation of:
    • Monthly schedules and account reconciliations
    • Daily and month end FX rate review
    • Compliance activities
  • Lead the annual period 13 process (close of books in SAP)
  • Provide financial analysis and disclosure information to the external reporting group supporting both quarterly and annual financial statement preparation
  • Provide technical assistance to other professional members of the Corporate and SBU Controllers groups and in the application of complex accounting issues; including researching accounting and reporting issues as they arise and staying abreast of IASB and FASB developments
  • Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives and projects as required, including proactively participating in identification and development of more efficient, value-add processes
  • Assistance with the annual period 13 process (close of legal entity books in SAP )

  • Experience using the finance module in a sophisticated ERP (SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and consolidation system (BPC, Hyperion, Cognos, SAP Group Reporting, etc.) would be considered an asset


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 – 10 years of work experience, more specifically financial accounting or reporting experience, preferably in a public company
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) with minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience with data and variance analysis, including researching causes and providing clear explanations
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced understanding of business processes, internal control risk management, IT controls and related standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
