Position

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, within the Port Maintenance team your duties will include:

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of Catastrophic Risk Management (CRM) and ensure controls are in place, including the verification of all Safe Work Procedures
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • As a Section 44 Appointed Person, you are required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations in accordance with your appointment
  • Actively conduct Field leadership observations and meet the PORT Maintenance Department KPI target(s)
  • Ensure operational discipline in 1SAP Work Management practices.
  • Assist in delivering planned maintenance to drive a safe and reliable plant
  • Ensure application of safe work principles within the Contractor Management framework for contractor personnel
  • Accept accountability for performance by ensuring quality of tasks, services and advice to the operation and asset functions
  • Continuous improvement of systems and processes are core priorities to enable effectiveness and efficiency
  • Coach and mentor team members to deliver on plan and build a high performing team
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

  • Step up where required to relieve Maintenance Supervisor

Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Electrical Trade qualification
  • Diploma or equivalent industry and/or organizational experience (Mechanical Trade) desirable
  • Experience of 3-5 years in a relevant role.
  • Section 44 & Appointed person experience
  • Electrical Nominee desirable
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • High skill level in 1SAP Work Management processes, Microsoft Suited
  • Minimum of C class manual drivers licence

In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
