DTS has an opening for a Senior Hydraulics Design Engineer who will support our client in East Peoria, Illinois. The successful incumbent will support several programs and bring a strong combination of powertrain experience, hydraulics design knowledge, and mechanical system design experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leveraging client design concepts, develop from scratch fluid systems design
  • Perform thermal analysis of hydraulics system to achieve efficiency, performance and cooling capacity requirements verifying system operation within client specifications
  • Update existing engine and transmission assembly package integrating upgraded emission reduction technologies
  • Update truck assembly design to refresh product with newly designed parts

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Working knowledge of high pressure hydraulic and pneumatic system design on mobile applications
  • Working knowledge of numerical methods of structural analysis and stress analysis preferred. Finite element analysis (FEA) experience is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical design experience using Creo
  • 4-5 years of hydraulic system design experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Ability to work with customers and users to gather and document system requirements
  • Knowledge of direct drive rail applications
  • Knowledge of large mining truck applications
