We are seeking a Senior Plant Metallurgist to improve the metallurgical and operational performance of the processing plant at our Telfer mine in Western Australia, by providing technical support to Operations and delivering improvement projects.

Reporting directly to the Superintendent - Metallurgy, your duties will include:
  • Provision of technical input to improve the metallurgical performance of the processing plant;
  • Developing and actioning metallurgical test work programs to diagnose process issues and identify areas for improvement;
  • Observing equipment performance and process control loops, whilst initiating corrective actions when performance falls outside of specifications;
  • Support, mentor and lead a small team of Metallurgists and Technicians;
  • Implementing process improvement ideas and delivering metallurgical projects, in order to meet budget and forecast deliverables; and
  • Performing metallurgical reconciliations and reporting on process actuals in comparison to budget and forecast values.

This is a permanent position that will work on an 8/6 FIFO roster. Point of Hire is Perth.


Located in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognises the importance of work-life balance. About You

Our ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, or another related discipline, and will have some postgraduate experience in contributing towards plant performance and improvement projects.

You will also demonstrate the following:
  • Prior exposure to flotation and gold processing will hold you in good stead;
  • Proven experience in a similar role;
  • Ability to coach, mentor and support a small team;
  • Excellent communication skills, in particular in dealing with stakeholders; and
  • Finally, strong analytical and problem solving capabilities will complete the package.
