Summary

  • The Southwest Management Associate Program is a twenty four month on-the-job learning experience.
  • Each trainee is assigned to either the Southwest Aggregates or the Ready Mix division for on-the-job training. Each trainee will spend two to three months in each job function within the line of business and upon completion will understand all the elements of running that particular operation from all functions within the organization.
  • As a management associate, you will receive daily supervision from your assignment supervisor, and will receive overall guidance for your district sponsor (either the VP/GM and/or the Area Manager).
  • Each assignment has a set of training objectives which you are expected to accomplish while you help to support the assignment location’s work objectives.
  • In addition, you may be given special projects to work on while you are in the program.

Critical Activities:

  • Perform specific tasks as assigned.
  • Receive training to obtain CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) and operate a Ready Mix truck.
  • Actively participate in all assignments.
  • Establish positive working relationships with all employees.
  • Write weekly activity reports.
  • Ask questions and discuss operational issues with his/her assignment supervisor and sponsor.
  • Demonstrate an understanding/proficiency of each training objective.
  • Complete a report for each assignment.
  • Adhere to and enforce prescribed ethics, safety and environmental measures.
  • Provide a high level of customer service by following established procedures and through personal actions.
  • Become familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in[Company] .
  • Provide leadership and direction for other employees as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in: Supply Chain Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering, Construction Management or Concrete Industry Management and hold a valid driver’s license. Individual must possess: the ability to learn technical processes, high-level verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Proficient computer skills (MS Word and Excel) needed. Previous industry exposure or experience useful.
