Job Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Sr. Desktop Support Technician to join our IT team located in Milwaukee, WI. In this role you will provide advanced troubleshooting, problem solving and on-site technical support for our Surface Mining Engineering team.


  • Provide advance troubleshooting, problem solving and on-site technical support for the Surface Mining Engineering team
  • Provide advanced support for all IT / Engineering deployments and projects
  • Develop solutions for complex user issues (hardware and/or software)
  • Support remote access through VPN, wireless networking and cellular networking
  • Responsible for asset management lifecycle activities for leased and purchased hardware including but not limited to: ongoing inventory tracking, wiping and return of leased equipment as well as e-waste if applicable.
  • Develop technical process and procedure documentation, as well as end-user documentation.
  • Provide engineering support for operational and project level hardware and software
  • Support video conferencing and Webex applications
  • Serve as a lead/escalation point for video conferencing, WebEx applications and Cisco IP phones
  • Serve as an escalation point for questions from other desktop support techs
  • Serve as a lead for R&D on new client technologies, including testing of new devices as they are added to the environment
  • Complete other projects as assigned

Education / Qualification

  • Associates degree in IT or a related field, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of IT client support experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and come to a resolution
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and support to others
  • Previous Experience Supporting Engineering Systems Strongly Preferred (SolidWorks and ADEPT a Plus)
  • Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS
  • Must be proficient with Windows operating system, Microsoft Outlook and O365
  • Ability to research computer related issues to resolve hardware and software problems
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, troubleshooting and multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues into laymen's terms both within IT and within all levels of the company
