Summary of Functions:

  • The Corporate Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for initiating and implementing technical improvements, preventing and resolving technical problems, and assessing the capabilities of the processes. The Sr. Process Engineer will provide all aspects of technical leadership in the improvement of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment efficiencies, and product quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and project management to improve product quality, equipment uptime, and line utilization for [Company] manufacturing plants.
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis methods to problem solve process issues and increase equipment reliability, process capability, and improve product quality.
  • Identifying, understanding, and teaching others the Critical Product
  • Characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product
  • Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Supporting experiments or trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet customer's fitness for use
  • Apply sound engineering practice towards completion of improvement projects.
  • Provides project management to capital projects to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Support in contractor selection to ensure contractor work is being performed in proper manner.
  • Apply sound engineering practices towards the completion of improvement projects.
  • Monitor projects for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering
  • practices.
  • Provides leadership to Process Improvement and Process Control activities and projects
  • Conducting process audits to review Critical Product Characteristics and Critical Process Variables and implementing sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or upsets
  • Determining process consistency and capability (Cpk)
  • Implementing control charting schemes for Critical Process Variables
  • Developing and implementing Operator Control Plans to ensure that all products meet specifications at the lowest cost
  • Identifying and eliminating common causes of product and process variation (troubleshooting)
  • Analyzing product and process data, providing feedback and making
  • recommendations to optimize performance
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices.
  • Implementing corrective actions for issues surfaced through quality complaints and hold tags
  • Coaching, counseling, and training all employees on process control
  • Establishing processes for  all  critical  tasks  and  audit  for  adherence  and compliance
  • Partner with maintenance to resolve equipment issues
  • Identifying and requesting capital funding for equipment, modifications, etc.
  • Establish program to replicate best practices across the [Company] plants in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Standardize manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Standardize equipment.
  • Translate improvements in one plant across other plants.
  • Roll out corporate initiatives across multiple plants.
  • Platform for sharing findings of RCA in safety and quality related incidents.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Plastics preferred)
  • 7 years of experience in continuous process manufacturing environment
  • Extrusion experience in pipe, wire, or cable preferred
  • Lean I Six Sigma training and experience
  • Experience managing or supporting multiple locations

Knowlege, Skills and Abilities

  • General knowledge of Root Cause Failure Analysis or equivalent process.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management including writing scope and cost estimates, contractor bid packages, and preparing Capital Appropriation
  • Requests for approval.
  • Ability to evaluate vendor proposals.

  • Ability to organize and lead multi-functional teams to achieve plant objectives.

  • Utilizing data and data collection systems, and Six Sigma methods for problem solving and decision-making to eliminate manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs.
  • Able to create and implement strategic and operations plans.
  • Effective with verbal and written communication.
  • Business and Financial acumen to understand the drivers of success and how they interact.
  • External perspective and understands that all business opportunities start with knowledge of how to create value for customer.
  • Strong planning, resourcing and delegation skills.
  • Able to achieve results fast both individually and through teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Production floor and office environment
  • Exposure to inside and outside elements
  • Travel up to 50% of the time within the U.S. and Canada
