Job Summary

[Company]'s Gulf Southwest Area is actively seeking a highly motivated Staff Civil Engineer for employment in the Tucson, AZ office. This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team of civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, and geologists all of which work together to conceive, permit, design and construct large earthwork projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior level team member.
  • Provide civil engineering and design support for mining and water management projects such as leach stockpiles, impoundments, and tailing or water dams. Projects also include supporting infrastructure including roads, channels, and pipelines and other drainage features.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
  • Perform civil engineering analyses including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, quantity and earthwork calculations, and alternative assessments.
  • Perform assignments with a critical eye while applying standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Develop tangible engineering design skills through periodic field experience. This may include construction support (verification of design implementation, adherence to quality, contractor/owner engagement), site inspections, and geotechnical investigations.
  • Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other civil related field required
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Due to nature of the work U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel remotely (within AZ) for field work and client meetings (Estimated 10% of total time).
