POSITION OVERVIEW:

Oversee, direct, coordinate, train and work with a team of engineers, geologists, and chemists to safeguard, enhance, improve and upgrade operating facilities at the Asarco Mission Complex, while reporting directly to the General Manager and maintaining communications with all other plant managers and area general supervisors, as required, to ensure safe, harmonious interaction and change implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage all long and short range mine planning/mine engineering functions (i.e. ore control, production planning, short range planning, dump planning, long range planning)
  • Manage the geology department
  • Manage the technical services department (i.e. dispatch, radio & telephone communications at Mission Complex, data management and analysis function, etc.)
  • Manage projects and develop, investigate, and analyze future projects that could improve or enhance production activities (i.e. manufacturing/mining input, throughput and output)
  • Manage slope stability issues and associated dewatering programs
  • Enforce accountability, establish departmental policies, communicate and implement corporate policies
  • Supervisory responsibilities and other work as directed

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Environmental background especially in water issues
  • Knowledge of environmental law, contracts and project management
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Dispatch, Minesite, Access is preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Mine Engineering discipline. Master's preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of Civil, Mechanical or Mine engineering experience in mining with experience in plant maintenance and management directly related to mining and heavy industry.
  • Professional registrations are preferred
