Position Title: Technician I Chemical - Ray Mine

Reports To: Chief Chemist/Lab Supervisor, Ray Mine Lab

POSITION OVERVIEW

Prepare and analyze samples from all areas in Ray Operations, including but not limited to crushing, splitting, and pulverizing course material. Perform analysis via acid digestion and FAA, XRF, titrations, Gravimetrics, etc., then report analysis via ASSAYNET LIM to appropriate departments. E-mail results or perform proper correspondence to various departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepare mine, concentrator, and SX-EW samples for assay using crushers, splitters, pulverizers, and associated equipment.
  • Operate the quality control lab bar code system to enter samples into the system.
  • Perform wet analysis of the samples using the following equipment: Precision Balance, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, pH Meters, X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer, and other analytical Instruments/equipment.
  • Maintain the quality of the assay results produced in the Quality Control Lab.
  • Promote and maintain safety and good housekeeping in the laboratory area.
  • Ensure that work practices comply with Company, Local, State, and Federal Safety and Environmental Standards and policies.
  • Interact with workforce and Human Resources, Purchasing, Accounting, etc. to ensure compliance with established company policies.
  • Have an understanding/exposure of deriving assays from a lab system (LIM).
  • Have full and complete knowledge of dealing with acids/bases/salts. pH meter, ORP, etc.
  • Able to interact with operations personnel in regard to sample analysis and applications to the Ray Mine "system".

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Thorough knowledge and exposure of the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (FAA)
  • Thorough knowledge of the DC ARC spectrograph, if required.
  • Thorough Knowledge of the LECO sulfur analyzer, if required.
  • SX/EW solutions including the organic solutions, if required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Panalytical XRF Axious, with regard to loading, starting, and closing an analysis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Complete understanding of the Ray ASSAYNET LIM data entry system, equipment: AAS, Titrametrics, XRF.
  • Requesting 1 year or reliable mining lab experience, with some college courses in a science discipline.

OTHER
  • Each employee will take prime responsibility for ensuring that s/he works within all required safety procedures and processes.
  • Candidates must possess a current and valid driver license.
  • Must wear safety PPE, not limited to ear plugs/muffs, respirator, etc.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., mine sample preparation.
