The Role

  • The Utility Operator is responsible for ensuring production occurs on a timely basis following all safety procedures and taking a pro-active teamwork approach focused on coordinating assigned product handling and mixing functions.

This role can expect to:

  • Perform packaging of explosives by placing chub or shot bag products into totes and various sizes of boxes.
  • Be aware of safety concerns in working with the various explosives produced and handled
  • Perform quality control checks including reviewing waste materials
  • Maintain a knowledge of raw materials and proper specifications of all products manufactured and quantities of raw material per load
  • Maintain a knowledge of where product should be stored in the plant, inventory tracking and awareness of potential hazards in various work areas

Experience and Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months previous work experience with preference for manufacturing or operations type roles
  • Solid ability to read and write the English language
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with ability to quickly determine potential issues and problem solve accordingly
  • Solid ability to complete paperwork in a thorough and meticulous manner
  • Solid ability to be reliable and dependable
  • Solid ability to be flexible to fast changes as needed during production process
  • Entry level computer skills including Internet and Windows applications
  • Preferred - possess a current certificate or be willing to submit to and pass a fork lift certification program

Physical Requirements

  • Work Environment involves being outside in all types of weather.
  • Must be flexible to plant operation demands including work schedules.
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds including tools and bags of product.
  • Carrying 50 pounds or more of product or other materials.
  • Pushing/Pulling in working with equipment.
  • Other Activities include frequent standing, bending and squatting with occasional work on knees.
