Job Overview

Weld all types of worn or damaged metal parts and equipment as specified by blueprints, sketches or diagrams. Cut patterns and do vertical overhead and horizontal welding.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Welding machines, such as mig, stick, submerged arc, etc; air arc, cutting torch, pattern cutter, grinders, hoists, tow motor, etc.

Responsibilities

SAMPLE WORK PROCEDURE
  • Examines blueprints to determine necessary repairs to be made.
  • Cuts patterns from stock.
  • Operates computerized burn table. (plasma, oxygen, etc.)
  • Uses cutting torch or air arc to remove defective parts from main assembly..
  • Examines work piece to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Uses grinder to clean welds.
  • Preheat all cast iron components before welding and slow cool after welding
  • When required, use tow motor or hoist to move or position work piece.
  • Follow all safety rules and perform housekeeping assignments.
  • Work without supervision
