How are the Featured Companies Selected?

The Featured Companies displayed on the Company and Property profile pages are selected using an advanced algorithm that searches InfoMine db and compares the properties held by the company to properties held by Featured Companies.

The algorithm has been designed to provide the most relevant matches possible. However due to the complex nature of the database and large number of variables it may take some time to followup the resulting matches to identify what properties triggered the match. In addition the maxiumum number of matches displayed is limited to 10. If more than 10 companies are matched then the algorithm will randomly pick 10 matching companies to present on the page.

The following is an outline of the algorithm used for matching Featured Companies to Company and Property profile pages.

The algorithm compares properties in a staged basis, based on property status. First a match is made for properties with a status of "Producer" (i.e. mines). This ensures that companies with producing mines will only be matched to Featured Companies with producing mines. The results are then refined to next match by location (country & state/prov. if available) and then production commodity.

If the company does not hold properties with a status of "Producer" then a match is made based on properties with a status of "Exploration", as well as location and reserve commodity (Featured Companies with 'Producing' properties are excluded to ensure that matches are focused on 'Exploration' companies).

The algorithm searches for matches based on property status in the following order: Producer, Exploration, Raw Prospect, Past Producer, and finally Unknown.

The result of this staged matching are highly targeted results enabling users to find comparable Featured Companies that have all their information open Free to all users. For example a company that owns producing gold mines in Ontario, Canada and Nevada, U.S. will list all Featured Companies that own producing gold mines in Ontario or Nevada.
