What documents are searched?

The Document Search can search all the digital documents cataloged in InfoMine db. It searches the entire text of the document and the title of the document. The digital document library contains documents filed by all Canadian, US, Australian, London and Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed mining companies. As of April 2007, the digital document library contained over 500,000 documents. Documents are continuously added via our live document feeds. Please note that the older microfiche documents are not searchable.

Can I search documents for a specific Company or Property?

YES — The Document Search listed in the "Documents" section of the InfoMine db reports (the gray box on the individual company address pages and property profile pages) restricts your search to documents cataloged for that individual company or property. To find any of the companies or properties listed on InfoMine db use the "Quick Search by COMPANY" (or PROPERTY) option.

Can I do a search on all the documents?

YES — The Document Search linked from the Companies/Properties section home page searches the entire digital document library.

How do I find my keywords in a document after I open it?

Use the "Find" and "Find Again" options in the Adobe Acrobat program to find exactly where in the document your search terms are located.

Can I combine different keyword options in a search?

YES — You can combine any or all of the keyword search options when doing a search. This is very useful for refining your search results.

What keyword search option should I use?

Which keyword option you should use depends on what you are searching for as there is no one option that is best for all searches. The following is a guide to help you decide on which option is best for your particular search.

With all the words -

This search option is best used when your keywords can be in any order in the document but to keep your results focused you need all your keywords to appear in the document.

With the exact phrase -

This search option is ideal if you are looking for a specific word or phrase, which is always spelled the same way. This search is particularly useful when you are searching for a specific technical term.

With at least one of the words -

This search is useful to find keywords that have multiple spellings or when you are searching for several related keywords and they do not all have to be in the document. This search option is particularly useful when combined with the other keyword search options.

Without the words -

This option is useful when a search term has more than one meaning and you want to exclude documents with certain words from your results. This search option is designed to be used in combination with the other keyword search options.

What is sort by Date or Relevance?

Date is the date of the document and is the recommended option for listing your search results. Relevance is a ranking given to the document by our Document Search Engine. The Document Search Engine uses a complex algorithm to rank each document based on the number of times the search term appears in a document compared to the total size of a document.

Is the search case sensitive?

NO — You can use upper- or lower-case letters in your keyword searches

What does the search result message "OVER 200 results" mean?

The maximum number of results that the Document Search will display is limited to 200. However the search does sort the entire result set for your search based on your sorting criteria (Date or Relevance) to ensure you can view the most relevant results. For tips on how you can refine your search results to below 200 please see the following help topic.

Too many search results?

If your search results in a long list of documents, try narrowing your search result by:

  1. Using the exact phrase keyword option and use as specific a phrase as possible
  2. Combine the different keyword options to refine your search
  3. Select a specific date range
  4. Narrow your search to a specific document type

Too few search results?

If your search results in too few or no results, try the following:

  1. Enter fewer keywords and keyword search options
  2. Expand or remove any date range criteria
  3. Search All Document Types

Can't view a document?

All documents are in Adobe PDF format and require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. To download the free reader please go to Adobe's Acrobat download page.
