SGS is pleased to announce the strategic acquisition of Geostat Systems International Inc., a Canadian company headquartered in Montreal, Canada.

Founded in 1981, Geostat is a well-rounded industry leader specializing in geostatistics, orebody modeling, resource estimation, exploration, prefeasibility, production and reclamation stage services. Geostat’s technical expertise will be integrated with that of SGS Minerals Services. Geostat generated revenues in excess of $1.7 million in 2007 and has 13 employees as well as using the services of a number of specialist external consultants to perform their work.

This acquisition strengthens SGS’ orebody modeling capabilities for geometallurgical applications and adds resource estimation services to SGS’ broad range of services available to mining sector clients. We look forward to integrating and supporting the Geostat team of professionals as they work to expand their service offerings to their clients.

SGS is the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services. Founded in 1878, SGS is recognized as the global benchmark in quality and integrity. With over 50,000 employees, SGS operates a network of over 1,000 offices and laboratories around the world.
