 Mining Consultants Directory |
The following brief guide is designed to assist in the process of evaluating and selecting a consulting firm or individual specialist for a project.
A review of previous project experience is an appropriate way to determine the suitability of a consultant. Previous project experience can be determined by:
- Requesting a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from the firm or specialist for the technology or service of interest.
- Contacting previous clients listed in the firm's Statement of Qualification and in the resumes of key personnel for references.
- Reviewing technical papers and publications published by the firm or specialists (use the InfoMine Publications Database for copies available on the Internet).
- Contacting other mining companies who have had similar problems and ask for their recommendations. To identify other companies with similar problems, review published papers addressing the relevant technical topics. The InfoMine Publications Database and the Guide to Library Resources provide a good starting point. The InfoMine db provides contact details for mining companies and properties.
The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) offers a detailed position paper on quality-based selection of Consultants.
To reach a broad audience of potential specialist and consulting candidates for a project, you may use the Request for Technical Services form to post a request online.
