The Antofagasta is the heart of the mining industry in Chile and South America The Antofagasta is without doubt the principal mining region in Chile both for its diversity of production and magnitude of operation as well as for the current and projected investment in mining in the region. An estimated of US$ 4,7 billion is projected for the period 2001 - 2005, as a result of the consolidation of various important projects. What is it? EXPONOR is an international and technical exhibition specialized in mining business which takes place in the center of the southamerican and world mining production: Antofagasta - Chile. EXPONOR 2003 was held in an area of 15.000 sqm, with 282 participating companies, including international companies from Germany, Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, U.S.A., England, Mexico, Peru, Ukraine and Chile. As part of EXPONOR weekly programme the 54th Congress of Chile Mining Engineers Institute and the Mining Council Fifth Aniversary were carried out. Besides the 4th Congress of Integrated Mining, the VII Mining Forum of the North of Chile, the Seminary Business Opportunities and the Technical Tours to Minera Escondida Ltda., Compañía Minera Zaldivar and Codelco Norte. Who can participate? EXPONOR 2005 is open to all companies with interest in the mining sector, particularly the large mining companies, national and international suppliers of machinery, equipment, technology and services to the mining industry.
