Consolidating a New Gold District in Colombia
Colombia was once the largest historical gold producer of the Spanish empire and in South America. Gold production between 1514 and 1934 is estimated at 49 million ounces, 38% of the total production for South America. Subsequent production is estimated at 30 million ounces, which gives Colombia a total recorded historical gold production of approximately 80 million ounces. Seventy-five percent of this production came from the Departments of Antioquia and Caldas where the Company’s Marmato Mountain Development Project and the Caramanta Exploration Project are located.
