Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. is a Canadian gold mining company that owns and operates the five major gold properties in Kirkland Lake, Ontario - the Macassa, Kirkland Minerals, Teck-Hughes, Lake Shore and Wright Hargreaves mines. These mines historically produced 22 million ounces of gold.
Kirkland Lake Gold is incorporated in Canada and is governed by the Canadian Business Corporation Act. Kirkland Lake Gold's main country of operation is Canada.
”The (Kirkland Lake) region as a whole qualifies as Canada’s second most prolific historical gold mining camp, accounting for total gold production of approximately 40 million ounces. Today, Kirkland Lake Gold is producing 60,000 ounces a year and plans to step up production to 150,000 ounces. With 16 new mineralized zones discovered by Sutton, Carmichael and their team of young geologists, and no sign of any slackening, the Kirkland Lake story has more than a few chapters left to be written.“ -

Company NewsTuesday, June 23, 2009 Kirkland Lake Gold announced drill results at the South Mine Complex in Ontario, Canada. Recent drilling from one of many exploration programs currently in progress, designed to test inferred resource areas and expand the New South Zone between the -5600 and -5300 foot levels, has returned high grade gold mineralization. “Approximately 80% of the drill holes completed during this program intersected high grade mineralization within previously defined inferred resource areas as well as untested areas.” said Stewart Carmichael, Chief Exploration Geologist. He added, “Drill holes 50-1065AW and 50-1065AW1 have extended the strike length of the New South Zone an additional 130 feet east and have intersected new high grade mineralization footwall to the New South Zone.” Drill hole 53-1279 assayed 814.29 g/t gold over a true width of 4.3 m on the New South Zone. Three other drill holes, located 70 to 80 feet from hole 53-1279, returned high grade mineralization on the New South Zone including 67.89 g/t (cut) over a true width of 1.5m, (hole 53-1218). New hanging wall and footwall mineralization to the New South Zone was also intersected, in respect of which drill hole 53-1220 intersected a new footwall zone and assayed 2,522 g/t (73.55 oz/t) over a true width of 0.8m.
