Corporate Summary
Chapleau Resources Ltd. is a Canadian Junior Company (CHI: TSX-V) with offices in Cranbrook and Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Chapleau is committed to maximizing asset growth and shareholder value through exploration, development and acquisition of highly prospective gold and copper properties in North and South America.
Chapleau is active in Brazil and Peru and also has a 10% interest, together with US Gold Corporation (30%) and Barrick Gold Corp. (60%), in the Patty (Indian Ranch) gold project in the Cortez Trend, Nevada-USA.
The five gold projects in Brazil are located in the historically very attractive Tapajos-Alta Floresta Gold District, in the Pará and Mato Grosso States of Western-Central Brazil. The gold properties were worked for gold by artisanal miners ("Garimpeiros") during the 1980's to early 1990's. No known drilling has been conducted on the five properties and Chapleau is currently fast tracking exploration drilling on three of them.
Recently the company signed a Letter of Intent with Bear Creek Mining Corporation regarding an option to acquire up to a 75% interest in the La Yegua porphyry copper-molybdenum (+/- gold) project in Southern Peru. No drilling has been done on the project and it is 20 km northeast of Southern Peru Copper Corporation's Los Chancas deposit which reportedly contains 200 million tonnes of ore grading 1.0% copper, 0.07% molybdenum and 0.12g/t gold.
