Energybuild Group reported good progress in the development of its Aberpergwm mine with profits increasing during a year of global economic uncertainty. In particular it is pleasing to report that the significant efforts of management and our operational team have resulted in an increase in our saleable coal by 108% to 239,000 tonnes for the year (2008 - 115,000 tonnes) and completion of the initial development phase in the 18ft coal seam
Energybuild Group announced that it has been granted an extension to its Forest Quarry opencast site, having received formal approval for the project from Neath Port Talbot Council. The extension will provide the Company with opencast coal for the next twelve months.
Energybuild Group reported to have driven a second air circuit in the 18ft seam. Completed before the Christmas break and the team is now working to develop production panels S1, S2 and S3, a task expected to continue over the next 18 months whilst the new drift is being driven from the mine surface. Production at Aberpergwm has been ramped up considerably. During the period the drift mine produced 65,000 tonnes of clean coal, double the amount produced during the year ended 30 June 2008. Similarly, production from the opencast mine reached 53,000 tonnes of clean coal, more than double the amount reported at the same point last year.
