A geophysical survey consisting of a fathometer, side-scan sonar and a sparker survey was conducted by Watson Geophysics.

A preliminary oceanographic was conducted. The oceanographic survey indicated that the water depth in the area of interest was less than 10 meters in many of the areas of interest.
