In 2011, basic exploration was carried out on the property with the development of geologic cartography; geochemical studies and rehabilitation of old underground workings. Results obtained show continuity of structures; and from core samples, it has discovered strong mineralized structures of massive form form with high content of zinc grading up to 15 to 20% Zn.
December 31, 2009
In Antioquia are evident slim quartz veins bearing Au and lesser Ag-Cu, emplaced in the Coast Batholith. Vein thicknesses range from 0.05 to 0.25 m, getting in some zones until 1 m. There are 2 main structures, Mela vein with 800 m length and Paola vein of 150 m length, both with discontinuous outcrops. Veins show quartz infill with iron oxide (goethite and limonite) where is the gold. This oxide zone deepens until 100 m from surface. There were reopened 3 main levels, which has allowed early to estimate 10,000 tons of ore resource on Mela vein @ 10 g Au/t, 2 oz Ag/t and 0.65% Cu. During 2009 mine was prepared as a conventional way because of veins slimness, producing Au 20 kg and Ag 500 oz. Palma is located close to Antioquia district, during 2009 were reopened accesses to old mining works, executing topographic and geological surveys in both surface and old works. There were systematically collected 466 samples from the mineralized structure in old mine with 1.5 m width @ 2.8% Pb and 18% Zn, in old mine. Metallurgical tests carried out, showed recoveries between 81 to 86% in Pb and 78 to 85% in Zn.
