Latest Information October 31, 2000 A 1,240 m, five-hole diamond drill program was completed. The drilling was planned to follow up a large three-kilometre-long alteration zone defined by recent extensive bedrock sampling and old drill data obtained from Outokumpu. This has been interpreted to lie on the same stratigraphic horizon as Outokumpu's recently mined out Mullikkorame mine, which lies immediately adjacent to the Arkala property's southern boundary. Two of the drill holes intersected disseminated sphalerite mineralization at the interpreted stratigraphic top of the alteration horizon. Drill hole ADD 30 intersected eight metres at 1,232 parts per million zinc from 109 to 117 metres down hole (values ranged from 549 to 1,540 ppm Zn) and ADD 33 intersected a zone of 19.45 metres at 1,416 ppm Zn from 228.25 to 251.05 metres down hole (values ranged from 487 to 2,970 ppm Zn). In addition, ADD 33 intersected a three-centimetre-thick massive sphalerite pyrite vein at 285 metres down hole, which makes the metre interval containing it assay 1.02 per cent Zn. These holes were the only two drill holes of the five aimed at that stratigraphic level. ADD 30 was collared 700 metres south of ADD 33. The other holes were aimed at geophysical targets lower in the stratigraphy and intersected some weak disseminated chalcopyrite pyrrhotite mineralization and barren pyrite pyrrhotite massive sulphide horizons.
