The Ashton longwall production for the quarter exceeded budget by 250,000 tonnes and is now in changeover to longwall block 2 which is due to start up in November. Development for longwall block 3 is underway. The Ashton open cut production has been reduced from planned output to allow for the capacity balancing system at the PWCS Newcastle Port facility.
In the half year ended 2007, Ashton longwall production slightly behind budget YTD due to a hard two metre
vertical dyke encountered in centre of current panel. Expect another 7 weeks of lower retreat rates. Development of third panel well advanced.
In 2007, the longwall started operation.
