September 10, 2010 Great Western Minerals Group announced that during November and December, 2009, GWMG carried out an 11-hole, 2,382-meter drilling program to evaluate rare earth element /phosphate mineral showings at the company’s Benjamin River exploration project located in New Brunswick, Canada. This component of the exploration program did not intersect significant REE/phosphate mineralization although there are other targets with similar magnetic signature and strong stream sediment geochem anomalies that are currently being evaluated. Hole BR09-05 returned 9.7 m of 0.363% TREO and 5.54 P2O5%. from 17.2 m.
September 7, 2010 Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. announced it has closed a private placement of Can$3,000,000. It has also announced purchased approximately 20.8% of the shares of Rare Earth Extraction Co. Limited of Stellenbosch, South Africa for a price of approximately Can$3,000,000.
October 29, 2009 Great Western Minerals announced that the next phase of exploration work is now in progress at its Benjamin River rare earth project in New Brunswick, Canada. Airborne surveys consist of a completed 1712 line-km helicopter-borne magnetic and radiometric survey over the project area. The goal of the survey is to further delineate and extend the zone of known rare earth mineralization and identify new areas of potential rare earth mineralization. The data is now being compiled and interpreted. A stream-sediment sampling program over the property has also been initiated.
