In 2009, on Bismark while total tons milled decreased a slight 1.2%, metal contents of silver, lead and zinc rose considerably in the year, by 18.1%, 72.0% and 18.8%, respectively. This was due to more selective mining of higher ore grades, and optimization at the beneficiation plant resulting from better instrumentation and the implementation of expert systems. The USD$1.8 million construction of a new pumping station was completed; it will allow exploration and mining at greater depths of the mine. The company conducted 11,090 meters of diamond drilling. During 2008 in Bismark: the installation of a tailings thickener and a zinc filter was completed, several projects were developed to improve efficiency in the consumption of fresh water and electricity, mineral reserves increased.
