Atna Resources reported an increase in gold resources at its Briggs Mine, Inyo County, California, based on a recently completed mineral resource estimate. The updated estimate incorporating recent drilling has resulted in an increase in Measured and Indicated gold resources by 11% to approximately 678,815 contained ounces of gold (0.20 g/t gold cut-off). Additionally, the Inferred gold resource increased by 34% to approximately 265,228 ounces of contained gold (0.20 g/t gold cut-off).
Atna Resources announce the results of its second phase of drilling into the newly discovered Briggs Main Deep area at its Briggs Mine, Inyo County, California. The results of the second phase of drilling, targeting the Briggs Main Deep, continues to indicate a significant zone of gold mineralization located directly beneath the current mineable reserves at Briggs Mine. The eight new reverse circulation rotary drill holes (7,450 feet) have extended the BMD mineralization to the north, south, and east of the previous drilling results. Mineralization has now been intersected in drill holes over a north-south distance of 1,000 feet and an east-west distance of 750 feet. Thickness of the sub-horizontal mineralized zone varies significantly within the drilled area ranging from 25 feet in the southern most intercepts to over 250 feet in the northern portion of the zone. The BMD mineralization remains open to the east and north.
Atna Resources Ltd. has made the first pour of approximately 300 ounces of gold in doré at the newly re-started Briggs Mine in Inyo County, California. Ore mining commenced at the site in January, crushing and the loading of ore onto the leach pad started in March, and solution delivery to the leach pad began in April. Facility construction at the mine is complete. The focus at the site is now to increase gold production to a target level of 40,000 ounces per year by the end of 2009. In addition, drilling is continuing to expand the reserve potential at the Briggs Main Deep zone within the existing permit boundary where new reserves may enable increasing the production rate or mine life.
