A large scale expansion was announced. The total capital investment is estimated to be A$401 million. The commencement of construction is scheduled for May 2008 and commissioning of the large scale and new mining equipment (Longwall) is expected by mid 2009.

The development option by Longwall method toward a larger scale operation was studied. After completion of the development plan, which is based on the study such as coal quality and geotechnical condition acquired through exploration and operation, it was decided to expand underground production by Longwall method. This investment shall ensure 4.9 million tonnes of annual production of ROM to yield 3.7 million tonnes of Coking Coal and PCI Coal from 3rd Quarter of 2009.

The project will increase the nominal capacity of the mine to 4.8 million metric tons per year. The longwall tones operations are scheduled to start in the second half of 2009. Meanwhile, the mine is producing up to 1.0 million metric tons per year via continuous miners in the development of gate roads and inventory of longwall panels.
