Kinross updated gold exploration and mine expansion activities in West Africa at is Tasiast expansion project in Mauritania and Chirano project in Ghana. The Tasiast expansion feasibility study is 36% complete and remains on schedule. Procurement of the mining fleet for the Tasiast expansion project has commenced.

Red Back Mining announced the first underground ore reserve estimate for Paboase at the Chirano gold mine, Ghana. The company’s independent consultants, have reported the ore reserves based on the sub-level caving mining method. The probable reserves are 7.86 Mt averaging 3.64 g/t gold containing 920,000 ounces.

Red Back Mining Inc. announced an update on first quarter exploration activities at its Tasiast Gold Mine in Mauritania and Chirano Gold Mine in Ghana. For the Tasist mine highlights include hole 71861 which intersected 45.0 m of 3.02 g/t gold and for Chirano highlights include hole CHDD1553 which intersected 26.0 m of 7.07 g/t gold from 441.0 m including 5.0 m of 19.56 g/t gold.
