Sherritt International announced that it has purchased for $45.0 million the 50% interest of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board in Coal Valley Partnership, a 50/50 Ontario general partnership between Sherritt and OTPPB.
Work on the Dodds-Roundhill coal gasification project feasibility study continues. Sherritt is
working with off-take customers for syngas, hydrogen and CO2. Final activities are also being undertaken to prepare for the submission of the Environmental Impact Assessment, which the Corporation intends to submit to the Alberta government in 2008.

The company announced that the Alberta Chamber of Resources Major Reclamation Award was granted to the company's reclamation work in the property. The report informs that fishermen can enjoy these two stocked lakes and hikers enjoy the extensive trail systems with growing spruce and pine. Luscar will turn 95 percent of the reclaimed area at the Coal Valley Mine into forested lands and wildlife habitat. The remaining 5 percent of the land base will include a small chain of lakes over the entire Coal Valley mine.
