Latest Information December 31, 2001 The Crescent Lake area pegmatite field was extended to a total length of 40 km following a new tantalum discovery. An initial mineralogical study by an independent scientist reports that the tantalum oxide is representative of highly fractionated, rare element granitic pegmatites that typically host economic zones of tantalum mineralization and often appear in groups or swarms. November 30, 2001 Recently completed geological mapping and prospecting program discovered 9 large (2m X 2m) subangular blocks of pegmatite within a 25 m x 25 m area on the grid. No pegmatite bedrock was located, but evidence suggest that the numerous blocks have not moved far from the source. Nine grab samples from the pegmatite blocks were sent for assay. The tantalum values are anomalous and consistent in all nine samples and range from 0.0186% to a maximum of 0.035% Ta2O5 with a nine sample average of 0.0255% Ta2O5. The rubidium and cesium values for each of the samples are also consistent and anomalous. This new discovery is located 10 km east of the historical (1950's) Crescent Lake area lithium rich pegmatite field trend. September 30, 2001 Line cutting commenced. The grid was surveyed with both magnetic and max-min I ground geophysical surveys. |
