The 2007-08 exploration program focused on excavator and hand trenching of two significant mineralized trends, Fanta and Tandiakangue West. Regolith mapping and rock geochemistry covered specific target areas over the two trends and Tondiakangue Sud. At Tondiakangue West, trenching has uncovered a significant low-grade mineralized structure trending parallel to the regional northeast structural grain. Recently, mineralization has been exposed in 10 trenches over a strike length of over 1 kilometre. June 13, 2007 Island Arc plans an aggressive exploration program at Dar Es Salam at the conclusion of the wet season in early October. The program will include extensive regolith mapping and soil geochemistry as well as trenching and sampling. Aircore drilling will test all priority targets. Regional exploration will investigate a large shear zone in the northwest portion of the permit area, as well as the southwestern extension of the Boura Formation. |
