A drill test of the Sullivan Horizon in the Davent-Fors-Vine sub-basin was completed and was being analyzing. The hole cored a 19 metre thick Sullivan Horizon with some anomalous lead and zinc geochemistry (152 ppm Lead and 350 ppm Zinc over 4 metres). Although interesting, this intersection, together with other features in the hole and surface geology, indicate that the hole is west of the main axis of a third-order sub-basin. The Sullivan deposit to the north is localized within such a sub-basin. These basins result from syn-depositional faults that produce grabens which are quiet-water sites for collection of argillaceous rocks, the best host for sulphide accumulations. In 1982, Cominco reportedly intersected a “well mineralized” 40 m thick Sullivan interval in hole DDH V82-1.
